With a Zoo Card, you have free access to the Zoo as many times as you like. Your Zoo Card pays for itself after just two visits.

What is included in the ticket?

Your entrance ticket gives you access to the entire Zoo - all animal habitats, indoor houses, and outdoor areas within opening hours.

Included in the price:

  • Access to more than 4,000 animals from across the world
  • The ZOO-Mission - a free activity booklet for children, available at the entrance
  • The Panda House, Tropical House, the Arctic Ring, the Giraffe House, the Elephant House - and much more
  • The new Leopard Trail - Europe’s longest Leopard Trail (opened March 2026)
  • Access to the ZOO Tower requires a separate tower ticket.

Discounts and special prices

Group discount

Groups of at least 15 people (children and adults combined) receive a 10% discount on the entrance ticket. The discount is applied when purchasing together at the Zoo entrance on the day of your visit. Not available for online purchases.

Senior discount (Ældre Sagen members)

Members of Ældre Sagen receive a 13% discount on the entrance ticket:

  • Ældre Sagen adult: DKK 217 (regular price DKK 249)
  • Ældre Sagen child: DKK 130 (regular price DKK 149)

Accessibility and companion tickets

Guests with a companion card from Danske Handicaporganisationer, Dansk Blindesamfund, or IBS do not pay entrance for one companion. Valid for both entrance tickets and Zoo Cards. The companion must be at least 14 years old.

Zoo Card holders with a disability can have a companion Zoo Card issued, valid for one unnamed adult companion.

Entrance ticket or Zoo Card - Which is the right for you?

Your Zoo Card pays for itself after just two visits. Here is what you need to know to make the right choice:

 

Choose an entrance ticket if:

  • You’re visiting the Zoo once in the near future - and don’t plan on returning later in the year
  • You’re a tourist in Copenhagen or making a one-off visit
  • You want to experience the Zoo before committing to a yearly pass

Choose a Zoo Card if:

  • You live in or near Copenhagen
  • You have children who love animals and will want to come back
  • You want unlimited access all year - whatever the weather

 

Did you know: If you have purchased a full-price entrance ticket, you can upgrade to a Zoo Card no later than the day after your visit. You only pay the difference. Use the 8-digit barcode number on your ticket when purchasing in our webshop - or visit the Zoo Card desk at the entrance in person.

A gift card for ZOO is valid everywhere in the Zoo and in our webshop. The recipient chooses what to use it for - entrance, or something else entirely.

The gift card is valid for three years from the date of purchase and cannot be exchanged for cash.

Frequently asked questions about tickets to ZOO
How much does a ticket to Copenhagen Zoo cost?

An entry ticket to the Zoo costs DKK 249 for adults and DKK 149 for children aged 3 to 11. Children under 3 have free entry. The tower ticket costs DKK 25 as an add-on.

Is the ticket valid on the day of purchase?

Yes. Your ticket is valid from the date of purchase for a full year. You can buy it today and use it straight away - or in three months. You decide.

Can I buy a ticket at the entrance?

Yes. Tickets can be purchased at the entrance on the day of your visit. When you book online, you skip the queue and save waiting time - especially at weekends and during school holidays.

When is the Zoo least busy?

It is generally quietest on weekdays before 11am and after 3pm. Weekends and public holidays - especially during school holidays - are the busiest times.

Can I upgrade my entrance ticket to a Zoo Card?

Yes. If you have purchased a full-price entrance ticket, you can upgrade to a Zoo Card no later than the day after your visit. The price of your entrance ticket is deducted when purchasing a Zoo Card  - either online using your barcode number, or in person at the Zoo Card desk at the entrance.

What does parking at ZOO cost?

Parking at our car park costs DKK 20 per hour. Payment is made via a parking app or ticket machine. There are three free accessible parking spaces and one free motorcycle space. The Zoo is also well served by public transport: train to Valby Station, metro to Fasanvej or Frederiksberg Allé, and bus 4A and 7A.
