Forgotten something at Copenhagen Zoo?

You are welcome to inquire about lost items by calling 72 200 286 during opening hours or by contacting the staff directly at the entrance of the zoo.

 

How old and how high is The Zoo Tower?

The Zoo Tower was built in 1905 and has been through several renovations since then. Today it has 182 steps up to the top platform, where you have a view over Copenhagen from a height of 43.5 meters. The Zoo Tower's highest point at the top of the flagpole is 50 meters above ground. It costs DKK 25 to enter the tower.

 

When are the animals fed?

To create variation in the animals' daily lives, feeding times are often planned a day or two in advance. You can find today's current feedings and other activities in the daily program at the screens around the zoo.

 

Does the entire zoo close at the same time?

The entire zoo closes at the same time. However, ticket and season pass sales close 15 minutes before the zoo's closing time, and during the summer holidays, they close an hour before the Copenhagen Zoos closing time. Kiosks and restaurants close approximately 15 minutes before the zoo's closing time.

 

Can I bring my dog to Copenhagen Zoo?

For the welfare of Copenhagen Zoos free-roaming animals and quarantine conditions, dogs and other animals are not allowed in the zoo. Exceptions are certified guide dogs and service dogs.

 

Where can I breastfeed and change my baby's diaper?

You are always welcome to breastfeed your child at Copenhagen Zoo. The zoo has toilets with changing tables, e.g. the toilets located next to Tropical House and at the entrance to Kids’ Zoo. Diapers can be obtained at entrance in case of emergencies.

 

Where am I allowed to smoke in the Zoo?

Smoking is not permitted in Copenhagen Zoo outside the defined smoking areas.

 

Can I buy cigarettes, diapers, or sanitary pads at Copenhagen Zoo?

Cigarettes and sanitary pads are not sold at the zoo. In case of emergencies diapers as well as sanitary pads and tampons can be provided at the entrance to the zoo.

 

Can I borrow a wheelchair at Copenhagen Zoo?

We have a limited number of wheelchairs available for loan. It is recommended to pre-book by calling 72 200 200. Since 2004 Copenhagen Zoo has been part of the Good Access scheme to make it easier for guests with disabilities to navigate in the zoo.

 

How do I get to Copenhagen Zoo using public transportation?

You can take the train to Valby Station or the metro to Fasanvej or Frederiksberg Allé. All three stations are located 1-1.5 km from Copenhagen Zoo. You can also catch bus 7A, which stops in front of the entrance to the zoo. Remember to bring coins for payment on the bus.

 

Can I feed the animals in Copenhagen Zoo?

No. The animals in the zoo may not be fed by guests.

 

Can I rent trolley and lockers at Copenhagen Zoo?

Trolley can be rented at the entrance to the zoo. The cost is DKK 60. For Zoo card members the price is DKK 50. A deposit of DKK 20 is required, which is refunded when the wagon is returned along with the return receipt provided when renting the wagon. Lockers are available at the entrance to Copenhagen Zoo. It cost DKK 10 each time they are opened.

 

Can I visit the eating establishments of Copenhagen Zoo without entering the zoo?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the dining establishments without entering the zoo. If you wish to hold an event at the zoo, you can book a venue and a menu, which also includes entry to the zoo.

 

Where can I get answers to questions about animals?

You are welcome to send your questions to zoo@zoo.dk. All written inquiries regarding animal-related questions will be answered as soon as possible and no later than within 14 days. You can also follow "Copenhagen Zoo" on Facebook, where we also regularly answer questions.

Can I, as a student, ask questions to the zoo or conduct a questionnaire survey?

Due to a high volume of inquiries and limited personnel capacity in this area, the zoo would like to have questions sent by email (zoo@zoo.dk). From there, we will assess whether email responses are sufficient or if we need to arrange a personal meeting. We encourage students to research whether the answers are available online.

 

Can I exhibit my art at Copenhagen Zoo?

Previously, it was possible to exhibit at the zoo, but we have had to recognize that there was no correlation between the resources the zoo used and the experience it provided to guests. Therefore, it is unfortunately no longer possible to exhibit at Copenhagen Zoo.

 

Can I leave the Copenhagen Zoo and re-enter on the same ticket?

You cannot leave the zoo and re-enter on the same ticket. However, you can make an agreement with the entrance staff if you need to leave the zoo for a short while to attend to something in your car.

 

Can I buy a Zoo card that is not personal as a gift?

All Zoo cards are personal. If you wish to give a Zoo card as a gift, it can be purchased at the zoo or through the online shop at zoo.dk. The Zoo card is valid from the date of purchase and for 12 months thereafter. For a gift, we recommend purchasing a gift card, which can be redeemed for a Zoo card valid from the date of redemption. Gift cards are valid for five years from the date of purchase.

 

Can I have multiple Zoo cards issued to the same person?

Extra cards can be issued for children under 12 years old for DKK 30. Remember to specify when purchasing that you want an extra card.

 

Do I need to report a change of address when I move if I have a Zoo card?

On the front page of zoo.dk, you can log in to your membership page with your membership number and your personal access code. Here you can view and maintain your data. To change your address, you need to use your membership number and access code. If you have forgotten it, you can have a new one sent to you by clicking 'forgot password.'

 

Where can I find today's program?

You can see the program of the day on the information screens located in and around the entrance, The Zoo Tower, The Elephant House, The Arctic Ring, Tropical House, The Giraffe Stable and The Hippo House.

 

I have become a pensioner - how do I change my Zoo card membership?

To change your membership, you need to send your date of birth in an email to zoo@zoo.dk. When you receive a response to your email, your payment information will be changed to pensioner status. You can now choose to adjust the amount on the payment card to the zoo or pay through Copenhagen Zoo’s online shop.
