Autumn moves in

There 'is' such a thing as bad weather…

But luckily, there are also 11 animal houses at the Zoo.

Under their roofs, you can meet everything from polar bears, elephants and giraffes to rhinos, hippos and butterflies. During the autumn school holiday, you can also get up close to the house mouse in Zoolab, hear the story of the musk ox, get hands-on in the autumn workshop and go on a ZOO Mission around the Zoo.

A small animal with big skills

Get up close to the house mouse in Zoolab and discover how this small rodent can survive everywhere from big cities to barns.

The house mouse is on the program from the autumn school holiday all the way through to Easter.

Built for the cold

On the windswept Arctic tundra, the musk ox braves the cold with the longest coat of any animal in the world. Step inside the tipi and hear the Zoo Guides tell the story of an animal built for a life of wind, snow and some of the lowest temperatures on Earth.

The musk ox story is on the program from the autumn school holiday and throughout the winter.

Get creative this autumn in the Old Pony Stable

If you feel like getting creative, settle in at the chestnut workshop or make your own bird feeders to take home and hang up for the little birds in your garden. You’ll find both workshops in the Old Pony Stable.

The chestnut workshop and bird feeder workshop are open from 9 October to 22 November.

Rainy day? Head indoors

Autumn doesn’t always come with blue skies. That’s no problem.

There are 11 animal houses around the Zoo, so you can keep exploring under cover. Meet polar bears, elephants, giraffes, rhinos, hippos and butterflies, among others, while the rain does its thing outside.

Go on a ZOO Mission all autumn

Throughout autumn, you can go on a ZOO Mission and explore the Zoo while learning more about animals from around the world.
