Accessibility

Accessible parking is available for visitors with disabilities

There is a designated accessible parking space located next to the entrance to the Copenhagen Zoo.

Vehicles in the Zoo

Copenhagen Zoo is a pedestrian area. Visitors with disabilities are welcome to bring electric or manual wheelchairs. For the safety and well-being of the animals, gas-powered vehicles are not permitted.

Borrow a wheelchair

You can borrow a wheelchair free of charge. Copenhagen Zoo has a limited number of wheelchairs available, so please make a reservation a few days in advance.
Call +45 72 200 200 to make your reservation and contact the entrance staff upon arrival at the Zoo to collect the wheelchair. Use of wheelchairs is at your own risk.

Accessible restrooms

Accessible restrooms are available next to other toilet facilities throughout the Zoo. Please note that the toilets by the entrance to the tunnel and next to the Kid’s Zoo are not accessible.

Guide dogs and service dogs

You are welcome to bring your guide dog or service dog when visiting Copenhagen Zoo. For the safety of the Zoo’s animals, guide and service dogs are not permitted in open habitats where animals roam freely. This includes the Australian Billabong, the kangaroo habitat, the Tropical House, and the flamingo aviary.

Assistant scheme

Visitors with disabilities who hold a companion card issued by Disabled People’s Organisations Denmark (DPOD), Dansk Blindesamfund, or a Children's Companion Card from IBS (Invalideorganisationernes Brugerservice), and who have purchased an entrance ticket or Zoo Card, do not need to pay an entrance fee for their accompanying helper.

Zoo Card holders with disabilities can be issued a companion Zoo Card. The card is issued in the name of the Zoo Card holder and is valid for an unnamed person, allowing different helpers to accompany the cardholder as needed.

To obtain a companion Zoo Card, a valid companion card issued by Disabled People’s Organisations Denmark, Dansk Blindesamfund, or IBS must be presented.

The companion Zoo Card provides entry for one adult companion when shown together with the Zoo Card holder’s own Zoo Card at the entrance.

This arrangement applies only to regular Zoo admission. For special events or experiences, the companion must have their own ticket. According to the recommendation of Disabled People’s Organisations Denmark, companions must be at least 14 years old to enter using a companion card.

Access Denmark

Copenhagen Zoo is affiliated with the Access Denmark scheme, which helps make it easier for guests with disabilities to navigate the Zoo during their visit.

Hidden disabilities

Guests with hidden disabilities can choose to wear the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to signal to staff and other guests that they may need extra time, patience, or assistance. Wearing the Sunflower does not provide special privileges, but it indicates that extra consideration may be appreciated.

Wearing the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is voluntary. It is available from the entrance staff or at the Zoo Shop.
