FUNCTIONAL IMPAIRMENTS

Disabled Parking

There are disabled parking spaces next to the entrance to Copenhagen Zoo.

Vehicles in the zoo

Copenhagen Zoo is a pedestrian area. Guests with disabilities can bring an electric or manual wheelchair. Gas-powered vehicles are unfortunately not allowed for the sake of the animals.

Borrow a wheelchair

You can borrow a wheelchair free of charge. Copenhagen Zoo has a small number of wheelchairs available, so please make a reservation a few days in advance. Call 72 200 200 to make your reservation and contact the entrance staff when you arrive to the zoo to collect the wheelchair. The use of wheelchairs is at your own risk.

Toilets for the disabled

You find toilet facilities for the disabled next to the other toilet facilities around the zoo.

Guide dogs and service dogs

You are allowed to bring your guide dog or service dog with you when visiting Copenhagen Zoo.

Assistant scheme

Guests with disabilities in possession of a companion card issued by Disabled people’s organisations Denmark, a companion card from Dansk Blindesamfund, or a Children's Companion Card from IBS (Invalideorganisationernes Brugerservice) shall not pay entrance fee to the zoo for an accompanying helper when purchasing an entrance ticket or Zoo card.

Zoo card holders with disabilities can be issued a companion Zoo card. The card is issued in the name of the Zoo card holder and is valid for an unnamed person, so it can be used by different individuals if the Zoo card holder with a disability has multiple helpers associated.

To obtain a companion Zoo card, a valid companion card issued by Disabled people’s organisations Denmark, a companion card from Dansk Blindesamfund, or a Children's Companion Card from IBS (Invalideorganisationernes Brugerservice) must be presented.

The companion Zoo card provides entry for one adult companion when presented by the Zoo card holder with a disability along with their own Zoo card at the entrance. This applies solely to regular admission. For special events or experiences in the Zoo, the companion must have their own ticket. According to the recommendation of Disabled people’s organisations Denmark, a companion must be at least 14 years old to gain access with a companion card.

Access Denmark

Copenhagen Zoo is affiliated with the Good Access label, which makes it easier for our guests with disabilities to navigate in the zoo when visiting.

Hidden disabilities

Guests with hidden disabilities can be provided with The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower if they wish to signal to staff and other guests that they may need extra time, patience, or assistance. Wearing The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower does not provide any special advantages, but it indicates to staff and other guests that extra consideration may be needed.

It is voluntary whether you wish to wear The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower. The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is provided from the entrance staff and at the Zoo shop.
